Many years ago in Seattle, two wonderful neighbors,
Elliott and Patty Roosevelt came to my home to swim
on a regular basis. They were a great couple full
of laughter and stories that even today I continue
to marvel at. Both are now deceased, but their stories
remain. During the years of our friendship we had
many, many discussions about his parents
(President Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt) and
how his father and mother never intended for the
Social Security and Welfare programs to turn out
the way they are today. Elliott used to say that if
his mother returned to earth and saw what the
politicians had done to their programs she would
have burned all of them in hell.
Here is a story I received today regarding the
Social Security Program and I immediately thought
of Elliott's comments. Hope you will read this
and think about it. Margaret
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the
Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes
into the Program,
3.) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from their
income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the
independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the
General operating fund, and therefore, would only
be used to fund the Social Security Retirement
Program,
and no other Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would
never be taxed as income.
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and
are now receiving a Social Security check every month
-- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85%
of the money we paid to the Federal government to
"put away," you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from
the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the
General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically
controlled House and Senate.

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the

while he was Vice President of the U.S.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving
annuity payments to immigrants?
A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic
Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at
age 65, began to receive Social Security payments!
The Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and
violation of the original contract (FICA), the
Democrats turn around and tell you that the
Republicans
want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens
believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe good changes
will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully
sure of what isn't so.
But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU

Mathematic Equations

Some things to think about
OK, I have to admit that I don't have the best marriage in the world. I think it's a good thing to admit the truth, so there it is. Well, since I'm trying to improve my eating habits, my health, and my attitude I found it also important to try my hardest to improve my marriage. I have been reading a great book on marriage called Marriage: The Divine Intimacy by Dr. Jack Schaap. It has some very excellent points. In fact, this is the second time I'm going through it and this time I'm writing down stuff that catches me, so it can be even more ingrained in my mind. I wanted to share some thoughts that I've gotten from it so far that I feel are important and will help others.
Dr. Wendell Evans (president of Hyles-Anderson College) says "Leadership and greatness are epitomized by putting up with people you have the right to put down." I think this is an awesome statement because it teaches me that I have 2 choices and if I want to do the right thing then the right choice is to put up with it (whatever it is) and avoid putting that person down for whatever it is that I don't like.
When a husband (either spouse is applicable) is unwilling to change, then wife must create in her heart the man he could become. You must have a vision for your spouse! Then what you do with that vision is take it to God and pray that he will change your spouse into what you want him or her to be. Now one thing I note is that you shouldn't be selfish about how you want him to change. For example, I want my husband to be more faithful in church, that's not for me, it's for him and it will effect the whole family when he's being spiritually fed. That's a big reason why I want him to get this new job, because he won't have an excuse not to go to church unless he's actually sick or something.
Dirty words with sexual connotation are blasphemous because they defy the intimacy the Christian has through the Lord Jesus Christ. Sex has gotten so misrepresented in society that people use a hand gesture that means "I'd like to have the most intimate, sacred union possible with you." when they are angry with another person. Satan doesn't want us to be close to God so he has found a way to pervert the most sacred and intimate of all unions by making it into the dirtiest of words.
As a person loves the Bible more, he understands more fully what it means to give trust and expression of trust to the one he loves the most. I have found this to be true. The more I read the Bible, the more I deeply desire to read it even, the closer I feel to God and the more I feel like I can tell God anything. I think a lot of people just flippantly say "give it to God" and there are so Christians that don't know how to. I have found that the way my father was growing up is quite similar to the way I view God. As I draw closer to God, though, He seems less like my father and more like who He really really is.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
I hope this is helpful and encouraging. I just really felt like I had to share some of the things I have learned. They may help you in all your relationships and especially your marriage if you are struggling.

James 3:13-18
13Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16For where envying and strife is , there is confusion and every evil work. 17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
This portion of my reading today just really spoke to me. The word conversation in the KJV bible is actually more like lifestyle. People will know you are wise or spiritual by how you live your life. Envying and strife bring about confusion and other bad things, but if you are living in the wisdom from God you'll have good fruits. I want to become a person that is pure, peaceable, gentle, easy to get along with, full of mercy and good fruits. I don't want to be partial and I certainly, with all my heart, don't want to be a hypocrite. If you make peace, you'll sow peace!
